Initial Training
Before you even arrive at our corporate headquarters you will have completed online training to orient you to your operations manual and our online system. At the in-person corporate training in Blacksburg you will engage in the same kinds of hands-on, minds-on, active learning that we use with kids, because adults also learn best by doing (no death by power point here!). An education degree and/or experience as a classroom teacher are not required. It is helpful to have experience working with kids in a formal or informal setting and to be comfortable working with and managing groups of children. Informal experience may come from areas such as: teaching Sunday school, being a Scout leader or youth sports coach, camp counselor, an academic coach (i.e. LEGO League, Oddessy of the Mind, Destination Imagination, etc) or volunteering in schools.
Not at all! Many of the franchisees we work with are former teachers and we love to help educators become entrepreneurs! There is
Wondering if you can really run a kids coding class when you’ve never written a line of code? The answer is yes! While basic technology skills are needed such as; downloading software and using email, you are not required to be a subject matter expert in any area of STEAM. We choose and/or design step-by-step platforms and curriculum with the non-expert in mind.
Who we choose to work with as franchise partners and representatives of the Bricks Bots and Beakers brand is critical to the success of both individual franchise owners and the brand as a whole. Statistically the reason most new businesses fail is being undercapitalized. Having the financial means to purchase the franchise, invest in a start-up, and the means to support yourself through the start-up phase is important.
Beyond that there are a number of characteristics that we seek in our franchise partners:

- Leadership skills, well connected and involved in your community
- Values education and a belief in the power of education to transform lives

There are 3 key factors that make B3 stand out from the competition.
- Our company is founded and run by educators and based on solid educational theory and experience. Our focus is on quality programming where kids learn while they are having fun.
- Our broad range of subjects and topics. By offering a wide variety of STEAM-focused programs that are themed around things that kids love, we provide opportunities for kids to do something new and different with every class they take.
- The flexibility of our model and the above mentioned broad scope give B3 a far greater staying power in the market.

That is up to you and one of the great things about owning a business – you are in control to structure the role that suits you. Many of our franchisees are very hands-on, teaching classes and camps themselves, this can be a great fit for teachers who become B3 franchise owners and enjoy working with kids. Other franchisees choose to take more of an administrative role and hire teachers to run the classes and camps.
Reaching out into the community and leveraging connections you already have in your community is one of the best ways to find employees. Summer camp lead instructor positions are a great fit for teachers who are currently employed in a school system or private school. These positions are fun and flexible and a great change of pace from the regular school year. Teachers can work the entire summer or just a few weeks so it is easy to find teachers. Summer camp assistant instructor positions are a great fit for college or high school students (18 years and older) or for instructional aides in school systems or private schools. After school programs are often taught by teachers in a school system, student teachers, substitute teachers, and college students.
We do not offer in house financing, but we can work with you to suggest possible sources for financing.
